Lina Guillen

Senior Counsel

As a seasoned trial attorney, Lina Guillen has handled all aspects of client cases, including investigations, motions and court hearings, complex discovery disputes, trials, and appeals. Lina’s practice focuses on high-asset divorce cases, involving complex financial issues such as venture capital, private equity, privately-held business interests, and real estate. Lina has also worked as a consulting attorney for clients going through the mediation process. She received her mediation training through The Center for Understanding in Conflict with Gary Friedman.

Lina received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She served as an extern for the Honorable Judge Susan Illston of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. After graduating, Lina joined an AmLaw 200 firm in San Francisco, working as a civil litigator on a wide variety of matters including business disputes, probate litigation, white collar crime, and anti-trust. Lina practiced at several other Bay Area firms, gaining additional experience in public agency litigation and employment law before transitioning exclusively into family law. 

Lina was an associate at Hanson Crawford Crum Family Law Group LLP from 2007 to 2012, and left for a period of time to become the Family Law Legal Editor at Nolo.com. She edited and coauthored several Nolo books, including Divorce & Money: How to Make the Best Financial Decisions During Divorce. As Nolo’s Family Law subject matter expert, Lina was quoted in national newspapers and online publications including, The New York Times, CNBC, U.S. News, Kiplinger, and HowStuffWorks.  She was interviewed by reporter Vivien Lee for a story on divorce rates during the pandemic which ran live for Spectrum News in New York.

Lina volunteers her legal services at various organizations, including Project Homeless Connect, the Justice & Diversity Center, and Legal Aid of Marin. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the Bay Area with her family, DIY home projects, and fostering animals for the Marin Humane Society.
